Located at the heart of the Medina in Marrakech, our 'Riyad', the traditional home built around the patio (an inner courtyard), has been renovated in 2001 by the Belgian architect Quentin Wilbaux according to Moroccan architecture and using local materials and craftsmanship : 'taddelakt' walls, zellige (small enameled pieces of mosaic), painted wood, 'bejmat'.

Nestled at the end of a 'derb', near the mosque, Dar el Calame will ensure you an authentic stay where the pace of time is marked by life in the Medina and the calls of muezzin. Fragrances and aromas, colours, silence, conviviality... a completely different world is there to discover.

A home away from home, enjoy hotel service provided by our staff. In addition to the tasty breakfasts, Hafsa, our housekeeper, is available to prepare an unforgetttable Moroccan meal.

Dar el Calame is a guest house which has been rated and recommended by the Tourism Commission of Marrakesh.

The 'Riyad' has 5 bedrooms in all, each with private shower and toilet; a living/ dining-room with open fire; the terrace which encircles the 'Riyad' constitues another living area,  overlooking the roofs of the medina, some minarets and, in the background, the peaks of the Atlas mountains.

Among these rooms, the 'Douiria' is a small separate apartment, composed of a large living-room, a bedroom and a private bathroom which offers great privacy.
All the rooms open out onto the 'patio' - the heart of the house - with its small pond and exotic plants.

There is wireless internet access throughout the Riyad.

The rooms on the first floor are all air- conditioned (the Douiria, the Berber room and the Loggia).

On site, you will find a user guide to the house and to the medina (menus, getting around, suggestions for restaurants ...).
